Askar 71F — early impressions

APO refractor

★★★★

First light only, so treat this as a placeholder — six subs on the Dumbbell Nebula was enough to confirm the field looks flat and sharp, not enough to say much else yet. Will revisit after a proper imaging session.

Pros

  • + Field looks flat and sharp corner-to-corner on the one test session so far
  • + Solid build quality — the dual-speed focuser feels precise
  • + Wider field of view than the Seestar suits bigger targets and mosaics

Cons

  • Still very early days — only one test session in so far
  • Needs a proper mount and guiding setup, not a grab-and-go like the Seestar
  • Rating likely to move once more data's in
