Askar 71F — early impressions
APO refractor
★★★★★
First light only, so treat this as a placeholder — six subs on the Dumbbell Nebula was enough to confirm the field looks flat and sharp, not enough to say much else yet. Will revisit after a proper imaging session.
Pros
- + Field looks flat and sharp corner-to-corner on the one test session so far
- + Solid build quality — the dual-speed focuser feels precise
- + Wider field of view than the Seestar suits bigger targets and mosaics
Cons
- − Still very early days — only one test session in so far
- − Needs a proper mount and guiding setup, not a grab-and-go like the Seestar
- − Rating likely to move once more data's in
